Today has been a really great, relaxing Friday thus far. I woke up, lounged around, read a little bit of my current book “Stick Figure”, and finished an MCAT Organic Chemistry lesson. By this time I was feeling pretty antsy, so I decided to grab my ipod, lace up my sneakers, and go for a run/walk. I ended up running 1/2 mile and walking 1/2 mile. It was a short relaxing workout: exactly what I needed. As I’ve already mentioned, I don’t force myself to exercise a certain number of times a week or for a certain length of time. If I feel like laying around all day, that’s what I do. If I feel like my body needs some movement, that’s what I do. Because of my eating disorder, I don’t force myself to stick to rigid plans. I did way too much of that in the past when I counted every calorie and every minute of exercise. Now, I just stay in the moment and let my body tell me what it needs.
My body craves protein after I workout. So today, I had a protein pack lunch consisting of a grilled turkey with mozzarella sandwich and yogurt. I have kind of a love/hate relationship with meat. I love deli sliced turkey or deli sliced chicken, but I hate virtually any other kind of deli meat. I love bacon cheeseburgers, but I hate steak. I also love ribs and bratwurst. Aside from that though, I don’t really care for any kind of meat. In fact, I never eat turkey on thanksgiving. There is just way too much other good food for me to waste valuable stomach space on something I don’t love. As previously mentioned though, I love deli turkey. I’m a weirdo. I admit it. My grilled turkey and mozzarella sandwich was the perfect quick and easy post workout lunch.
